Section View High Density Cartridge Heater

Though a cartridge heater looks similar to a tubular heating element, they are not the same

They differ in the way they are manufactured

A Section schematic view of High Density cartridge Heater is shown in the figure. The Figure shows various component of a typical High Density Cartridge Heater.

High Density cartridge heaters are made by winding a proper selected, proper gauged, High resistance wire over a ceramic former or core in a winding machine. The winding machine, winds the wire with proper pitch control for effective heating and temperature distribution. This core is centered and placed in a tube sheath, with TIG welded cap at one side, with High nickel terminal passing through the core.

 High quality MgO is then made to flow between the gaps between the coil and the inner sheath space.

This assembly is then sealed with a plug.

Now, This assembly is compressed in a rotating machine, where its insulation resistance is enhanced by increase in Mgo Density. This Results in high Insulation value for current to flow, whereas this also allows Heat to escape the coil at a faster rate as this process also increases the heat conductivity of Mgo.
